How to Set a Static Default Value for a Field

Note The steps for this task are the same when using Global Extensibility () with the exception of accessing the Configuration mode.

Many users find it helpful and timesaving to configure a pre-set static default value for the fields in which they frequently enter the same specific value. The user may set default to automatically fill a field every time the screen is accessed to save time.

Note Caution should be used to ensure that a static (i.e., constant) default value is not placed in a field that requires a unique entry, such as Number or Code fields that must contain unique entries

Click on the [User Extensibility] button for the field to receive the default value

Select Set Default … option     Set a Static Default Value for a Field example screen

Enter the exact value for which the field should default when the Default: window appears and click the [OK] button.

The result is the field will always initially pre-fill with the default value upon entry to the screen.

Note The initial default however may be changed by simply over typing the default value.
